The Technical University of Kenya (TUK) is a Kenyan public institution of higher learning established through the elevation of the Kenya Polytechnic University College (KPUC) to full university status.

The main campus of the Technical University of Kenya is located in Nairobi, along Haile Selassie Avenue. However, it has two satellite campuses in Kwale and Lamu County.

TU-K was established as the first Technical University in Kenya in line with the provisions of the proposed Universities Act, 2012.

The Technical University of Kenya grew out of the Kenya Polytechnic. The Kenya Polytechnic was founded in 1967.

Notably, proposals for the establishment of a technical institute in Nairobi were put forward in the Willoughby Report published in 1949.

This led to the creation of the Royal Technical College of East Africa (RTCEA).
