The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the appointment of Sharon Kisire as its new Vice Chairperson, effective May 21, 2026.
In an announcement on May 23, TSC stated that Sharon Kisire’s appointment follows the end of the tenure of Leila Ali Abdi.
“The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the appointment of CS Sharon J. Kisire, MBS as the new TSC Vice Chairperson, effective from 21st May 2026,” read part of the statement.
TSC congratulated the new Vice Chairperson and welcomed her as she assumes her leadership role.
Leila was appointed in May 2020 after being nominated by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Profile of Sharon Kisire, New TSC Vice Chairperson
Sharon Kisire has extensive experience in human resource management and organizational leadership spanning both the public and private sectors.
She has served as the Head of HR Consulting at Powerhouse HR Consulting LLC since August 2019.
Previously, she worked at Kenya Pipeline Company as General Manager, Resources, where she oversaw the Human Resources, Administration, and Security departments from 2016.
Kisire is the founder of the Competence Development Center (CDC), a HR consultancy firm specializing in recruitment, outsourced HR management, mentorship, and coaching programmes for managers.
In addition, she has served as Director of Resources at Safaricom and earlier worked as HR Director at Kenya Wildlife Service between 2006 and 2012.

Educational Background
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Business and Management at Strathmore University.
In addition, Kisire holds a Certified Public Secretary (CPS-K) qualification from KASNEB, which she attained between 2001 and 2005.
She also earned a Diploma in Human Resources from the Kenya Institute of Management in 2000.
The incoming TSC Vice Chairperson pursued her higher education at Kenyatta University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Anthropology between 1989 and 1992, before later earning a Master of Arts in Criminology from the same institution between 1994 and 2000.
Kisire attended Loreto High School in Limuru, where she earned her A-Level certificate between 1983 and 1988.

Her Role As Commissioner
In 2021, she was sworn in as a TSC Commissioner alongside four others to serve a six-year term.
As a commissioner, she was responsible for ensuring that the Teachers Service Commission functions effectively and fulfills its constitutional mandate.
Her responsibilities included formulating policies, providing strategic leadership and oversight of the commission’s secretariat, and ensuring that teachers comply with the teaching standards prescribed by law.
The commissioner also manages the teachers’ payroll, facilitates career progression and professional development, including the appointment of head teachers and principals, and monitors the conduct and performance of teachers in the teaching service.
