Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo have been arrested at Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) after they joined protesters in the March 20 mass demonstrations.
Madzayo who is the Senate Minority leader, was arrested at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina castigated the police for arresting his colleague saying Kenyans should be allowed to exercise their democratic right.

“Arresting Coast Leaders will not help! We stand with minority leader @StewartMadzayo. Kenyans must be allowed to exercise their democratic right as per article 37 of the constitution,” tweeted Ledama.
In the morning, police swung into action and barricaded several roads in the city.
Also, the road leading to State House was barricaded by GSU officers after the Azimio leadership said their supporters will march there in a bid to initiate change.
University Way, Processional way, Arboretum Road, and other major roads were also blocked and barricaded by police officers.
In Kibera, which is considered the political bedrock of Azimio leader Raila Odinga, police repulsed a section of youths who had ganged up in protest.
