Kameme Fm Radio Presenter and televangelist Muthee Kiengei has warmed the hearts of many with a story of how he transitioned from a street skit comedian to his current status.
In a post on his social media account, Kiengei shared his photo taken in 2009 in Thika Town when he used to sell compact discs with recordings of his Kikuyu skits.
According to him, selling the discs commonly known as CDs was his only source of livelihood.
By then, he would travel from one town to another targeting shops, markets, or any gathering of people to sell his art.
On that particular day when the photo was taken, Kiengei recalled how he approached a neatly dressed lady operating a shop in Thika town hoping to sell some CDs.
The lady’s appearance, he recounted, gave him the idea that she was capable of buying around four of his discs.
Encouraged by his imagination, Kinegei- dressed in customs giving him the looks of an old village man- resolved to enter her shop and try his luck.
But, unfortunately for him, the reception he received from the lady was not welcoming.

In his post that has since received a significant number of impressions, Kiengei recalled how the lady dismissed him quickly and ordered him out.
“Get out of my shop, I did not set up my shop to allow mad people to enter at will,” Kiengei quoted the lady in his statement.
According to him, the cold reception left him in utter disappointment.
But he did not give up and instead walked to the nearby Christina Gardens in Thika CBD where members of the public gather to rest.

He charged himself up and managed to sell some CDs in the Gardens to turn his day around.
In his parting shot, Kiengei asked his followers to never let anybody’s opinion discourage them.
From Street Comedy to Radio Celebrity
He added one of his recent photos noting that, “That’s How the Mad man looks like Today”- implying that the man who was once dismissed by the lady as mad had turned out to be a radio star.
“This is just to encourage you, never be discouraged by one person. The world is waiting for you. Let People’s opinions be kept to them. Your Destiny is in the feeling inside you,” he wrote in the post.

Another one said, “The God of another chance, you are really blessed Rev Ben, now you are the same man we see on Tv, in life never look down on anyone”.
Kiengei has over the years earned fame as a radio presenter of Kameme FM which is owned by Media Max.
He transitioned into radio and made his breakthrough in a show known as “Mawatchmen” alongside his current co-host Gatonye wa Mbugua.
Later, Kiengei and Gatonye reunited in the station’s morning show where his career has since blossomed making him a household name in the Kikuyu radio space.
