Chams Media and former TV47 presenter Lauren Edukon has announced her exit from the Alex Chamwada-founded company after a three-year stint.
Edukon announced her exit in an emotional message shared through her social media accounts on Wednesday, January 10.
Additionally, the presenter went on to thank Alex Chamwada, the company’s founder, for trusting her to work as a Bureau Chief.
“In a special way, I thank my mentor Alex Chamwada for trusting our former Governor Josphat Nanok’s recommendation to pick me to lead and work as the Bureau Chief at Chams Media Lodwar Office,” she said.
Notably, Edukon joined the media company in March 2021 and was in charge of its Lodwar Office.
While unveiling her at the time, the company noted that Edukon’s role was that of a Producer and Reporter, based in Turkana County, and the larger North Rift region.
Additionally, in her announcement, Edukon went on to add that she joined Chams Media at a time when she was almost giving up.
“God blessed me with a job at Chams Media at a time when I was giving up on my internship,” she added.
Furthermore, Edukon acknowledged her growth and achievements while working at Chams Media.

The presenter also hinted at joining another company after disclosing that she has bagged another opportunity.
“And now my dear family and friends, it is time to say goodbye to the Chams Media fraternity because God has seen it fit to bless me with yet another job opportunity,” she added.
Edukon’s Career
Nonetheless, Edukon said she would be disclosing details of her next role in the near future.
Chams media joined Kenyans online in congratulating Lauren for her stint at the company, wishing her the best in her next role.
“Thank you, Lauren! We wish you the very best in all your future endeavors. Your contributions to Chams Media have been invaluable,” noted Chams media.
Edukon’s journey as a journalist commenced after attaining a Mass Communication degree (broadcast option) at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in 2020.
She went on to join Cape Media’s TV 47 in June 2020 where she worked until her move to Chams Media.
During her stint at Chams Media, she won the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA) consecutively in 2022 and 2023, emerging as a runner up in 2021.

While recounting his ten years-journey at the helm of the company in November 2023, Chamwada explained that it had been a journey of faith and resilience all the way.
In a statement on the 10th anniversary of Chams Media, the journalist revealed that it was not easy to set the company going at the beginning, but he endured the difficult moments to take the company to its current levels.
“The beginning was tough but as the founder, I remained focused and passionate about our vision,” he said.
“I would say I stepped out of the newsroom at the most unexpected moment with only my mobile phone, laptop and networks.”
So far, Chams Media has supplied content for top media stations in Kenya and offered consultancy services for prominent firms.
