Known for appearing in every protest and for his striking resemblance to Jomo Kenyatta, Michael Ngige Waweru, alias ‘Fake Jomo’, says he has spent all his life searching for one answer: Who is his biological father?

Speaking in an interview with Teddy Ernest of The Kenya Times, Ngige recalled that his mother had once slapped him ‘hard’ after he directly confronted her on the details of his biological father.

According to Michael Ngige, suspicions about his parentage began in childhood, when friends kept questioning his striking resemblance to the country’s first president and his different appearance from his siblings.

While admitting that there is no proof linking him to the Kenyatta family, he maintains that he has always considered the possibility of a link.

“My mother’s place is near Mbiyu Koinange,” said Ngige adding that the former politician served as his mother’s area MP as well as Jomo Kenyatta’s P.A.  “So, my thinking is that maybe because Jomo Kenyatta frequented Mbiyu Koinange’s place, he met my mother there at that time.”

Beyond his resemblance, Ngige has become a familiar face at almost every demonstration.

The activist’s return from the United States followed the disturbing events surrounding the Gen Z protests in 2024 and the deaths of young people, which Ngige stated convinced him to return home and fight for his country.

Ngige rejected allegations that he was paid to attend demonstrations in Kenya, affirming that his involvement was voluntary and patriotic.

He also said he works with a group of six activists to plan protests, notify the police in advance, and coordinate their activities.

He further called out the police for his arrests and court cases, describing them as a move to frustrate him.

In an unexpected turn, the activist declared his intentions to vie for the presidency in 2027. Watch the full interview below
