Mohamed Adan Khalif is the current Governor of Mandera County, having been elected in August 2022.
He has a long history in local leadership, having served as the Speaker of the Mandera County Assembly.
Before his political career, he was the Managing Director of Frontier Engineering from 2005 to 2017.

Mohamed Adan commenced his schooling at Elwak DEB Primary School before proceeding to Maseno High School and later Wajir High School, where he completed his secondary education.
He then pursued higher education at Kampala University, graduating with a degree in Business and Management Studies in 2011.
Career
From 2005 to 2017, he served as the Managing Director of Frontier Engineering, a firm that secured major regional construction contracts, including roads, rural electrification, water, and building projects.
He was a Mandera Town Council chairman and councillor from 1998 to 2013, during which time he also held the position of Mayor of Mandera Town Council.

In 2017, Khalif was elected to serve as the second Governor of Mandera County, succeeding Ali Roba, and held the office until 2022.
Following a successful re-election bid, he commenced his second term as Governor in August 2022.
