Duale Announces KNH Board Shake-up and Changes to Professional Bodies

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Transport CS Davis Chirchir have announced a series of new appointments across key health and transport boards.

The announcements, published in the Kenya Gazette dated March 27, 2026, cover hospital boards, professional regulatory bodies, and the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), bringing fresh leadership to several statutory institutions

CS Duale has appointed Riyak Ahmed Mohamed and  Zablon Mokua to the Board of Directors of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for a three-year term.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 7 (1) (g) of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Order, 2025, the Cabinet Secretary for Health appoints— Riyak Ahmed Mohamed, Zablon Mokua,” read part of the gazette notice.

CS Duale Makes Changes to Hospital Boards

Meanwhile, at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Catherine Kathure Samwel was re-appointed to the board, while Nazim Jiwa Mitha and David Kipchirchir Rotich were appointed as new board members.

CS Duale also constituted the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya, appointing Godana Sora as chairperson and naming members, including Hilda Cheserem and Wallace Karuguti.

In the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, Tonnie Mulli was appointed as a member, while Moses Kiptanui, Prof. Marion Mutugi, and Rose Jepchumba Kosgey were re-appointed as the council’s members.

Further changes saw David Muthaka Ichere appointed to the board of Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, with Bernard Kaparo re-appointed for a period of three years.

At the Kenya Health Professionals Oversight Authority, Dr. Amit Thakker was reappointed as non-executive chairperson, while Wilfred Oguta, Margaret Mbugua, and Ahmed Diis Mohamed were appointed to the board.

Other Appointments

Aden Duale re-appointed Hadija Bisharo, Warda Mohamed, Kennedy Kuria, and Safari Kalu Kithi as members of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.

At the same time, Lyndah Kemunto Manoti was appointed to the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

The health CS appointed Salma Sheilla Kwamboka as Chairperson of the Counsellors and Psychologists Board.

The board will also welcome Anne Syokau Mutua, Elecah Muthoni, Japhet Ouru Ogwangi, and Dr. Obadia Kipkurui Yator as its members.

All appointments take effect on March 27, 2026, and will run for three years.

Chirchir Appoints New Members to NTSA Board

On the other hand, the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Roads and Transport, Davis Chirchir, has appointed Peter Kibe Maina and Kenneth Limo Toroitich as members of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

The appointments, made under the National Transport and Safety Authority Act, will run for three years, effective from March 27, 2026.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 (1) of the National Transport and Safety Authority Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport appoint Peter Kibe Maina under paragraph (f) and Kenneth Limo Toroitich under paragraph (g) as Members of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority,” read the notice.
