Jubilee Group has appointed Juan Cazcarra as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Dr. Julius Kipng’etich, who will retire on November 30, 2026.

Kipng’etich exits the position after eight years leading the regional financial services group, according to the company.

Cazcarra will assume the position on December 1, 2026, after serving as Deputy Group CEO.

“On behalf of the Board, I congratulate Juan Cazcarra on his appointment as Group Chief Executive Officer. Having worked closely with the Group’s leadership and contributed to our progress, Juan brings extensive industry experience, institutional knowledge and a clear understanding of our business and ambitions,” part of the appointment notice read.

Who Is Juan Cazcarra?

Juan Cazcarra is an international insurance executive with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry.

Juan has worked across Europe, Southeast Asia and Africa, where he has held senior leadership positions in operations, finance, risk management and corporate transformation.

Before joining Jubilee Group in July 2021, Cazcarra gained experience working with global insurance group AXA, working in several markets, including Spain, France, Serbia and Indonesia.

During his international career, he held senior roles, including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Risk Officer.

In addition, Juan has experience in financial management, operational oversight, strategic planning, and organizational transformation.

Cazcarra holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from Universidad de Zaragoza, both in Spain.

His Journey at Jubilee Group

Cazcarra joined Jubilee Holdings in 2021 as Group Chief Operating Officer before being appointed Deputy Group CEO in April 2025.

In his previous roles, he provided strategic and operational oversight across several functions, including finance, strategy, marketing, transformation, customer experience, operations and information technology.

His responsibilities also extended across Jubilee’s businesses in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.

Juan was further involved in Jubilee’s Changamk@ digital transformation agenda, which focuses on using technology and innovation to improve business processes, customer experiences and operational performance.

His work has included efforts to simplify processes, strengthen service delivery and improve operational efficiency as the Group responds to changing customer expectations and developments in the insurance industry.

Before joining Jubilee Group, Kipng’etich built a career in corporate management, public administration, institutional leadership and academia.

He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), where he led the organization’s operations and conservation programs.

His other executive roles included Chief Executive Officer of Uchumi Supermarkets Limited and the Investment Promotion Center, now known as KenInvest.

Julius also served as Chief Operating Officer of Equity Group Holdings.

Beyond corporate leadership, Kipng’etich has an academic background and previously lectured at the University of Nairobi’s School of Business.

Additionally, he served on the boards of several organizations, including the Kenya Tourism Board and Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation.

During his eight-year tenure, Jubilee focused on strengthening its position across East Africa, advancing its insurance and investment businesses, and pursuing sustainable growth.

His leadership also emphasized talent development and strengthening the organization’s institutional capacity to support its long-term ambitions.

Jubilee Group Chairman Zul Abdul acknowledged his contribution in strengthening the Group’s regional position.

“We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Julius for his exceptional leadership and dedicated service to Jubilee. His contribution has been instrumental in strengthening the Group’s position in the region, championing sustainable growth and developing the talent that will shape our future.
