Candidates were also warned that canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification, and it emphasized that it does not charge any fee during the recruitment process.
KSA said it will contact only shortlisted candidates, and successful applicants will be required to meet Chapter Six constitutional requirements, including obtaining clearance certificates from the DCI, HELB, KRA and EACC.
The hiring exercise comes as Kenya continues to expand the use of space-based technologies in critical sectors of the economy, including agriculture, environmental conservation, disaster management, urban planning and telecommunications.
The Kenya Space Agency
The Kenya Space Agency was established in March 2017 as a State Corporation under the Ministry of Defense with the mandate of promoting, coordinating and regulating space-related activities in Kenya.
The agency succeeded the National Space Secretariat, which had been overseeing the country’s space interests since 2009.
Since its establishment, KSA has been central to the efforts to expand the use of space technologies in national development.
The agency works with government ministries, research institutions, universities, and international partners to promote applications of satellite imagery, earth observation data, and space-based technologies across different sectors of the economy.
Key focus areas include enhancing the use of space-derived data in decision-making, planning, monitoring, and predictive analytics.
KSA is also tasked with developing Kenya’s national space capability through investments in human capital, technical expertise, and infrastructure.
The agency has been supporting the growth of local innovation and research while working to position Kenya as a significant player in the regional and global space sector.
