Ministry of Education Announces 1,000 Internships for Diploma and Degree Holders

The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, through the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort has announced 1,000 internship opportunities for both degree and diploma holders. 

In a notice on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the Public Service Commission (PSC) called on qualified candidates to apply.

“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has declared 1,000 internship vacancies under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4,” the notice read in part.

Requirements for Ministry of Education Internships

According to the Ministry of Education, successful candidates must have graduated not earlier than 2020, and be:

• In possession of a bachelor’s degree in education with specialization in Information Communication Technology or a bachelor’s degree in ICT; or a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education, from a recognized institution.
• Knowledgeable in networking and infrastructure, applications development, information security and project management.

• Ability to integrate ICT with Education in terms of E-Learning and content development.
• Requisite skills to carry out research and innovation to support the Digital Literacy Programme.
• Should be willing to be deployed to any Sub County Education office on full time basis.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the interns will include:

1. Support of E-Learning and content development in line with the schemes of work.
2. Providing class support and training of Primary School teachers in use of digital literacy devices.
3. Supporting implementation of the Digital Learning Programme.
4. Carrying out innovations to enable schools improve on use of digital learning.
5. Providing support in safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.
6. Assisting teachers by integrating ICT in delivery of teaching, learning and assessment.
7. Supporting staff with development and production of key school policies and procedures.
8. Providing first line support and maintenance of ICT services in the schools.

The Ministry of Education will deploy successful candidates to schools at Sub County Level, where, in addition to acquiring practical skills and knowledge, the interns will play a critical role in supporting virtual learning and other related digital platforms.

The internship is available for a period of twelve (12) months, and it is non-renewable.

The interns will be paid a stipend by the Ministry of Education, at a rate determined by the Government.

On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department.

Interested and qualified applicants are requested to make their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by June 23, 2025.
