Murang’a County has announced temporary employment opportunities for the youth, with successful participants poised to receive a small grant as start-up capital.
According to a notice shared on April 10, 2025, the County seeks to offer temporary employment and targeted short courses to the youth for three Months.
“Youth unemployment is a key contributor to the challenges currently facing the young people in the country and Murang’a County in particular,” the statement read.
“To address this unique challenge affecting the youth in Murang’a County, the county government has initiated the Murang’a County Youth Service (MYS) program.”
Interviews for the opportunities will take place on April 17, 2025. The interviews are set to commence at 09:00 am in various venues.
The last beneficiaries of the program were given Ksh 15,000 as seed capital to start a business and one year tax exemption certificate to allow their business to grow.

Locations: Kiru, Kagumoini, Kihari, Thuita, Gathunya, Wahundura, Kamacharia, Gakoe, Chui, Gitugi, Karung’e, Ngutu, Njumbi, Kiriti, and Mioro.
Venues: Kamagogo Factory, Gititu Primary, Kihari TBC, ACK Thuita, ACK Gaithunu, ACK Kiria, ACK Kairi, Kambara Ass Chief Office, Matuto Shopping Centre, Chief’s Office, Kirimiga ECDE Kigumo, Ngutu Chief’s Camp, Gikoe Primary, Kiriti, Gacharageini Acc Camp, Mioro, and Merereini TBC.
Kigumo Sub-County
Locations: Mariira, Makomboki, Kangari, Kinyona, Gachocho, Gacharage, Kamukabi, Kigumo, Githima, Kirere, Gikarangu, Munguini, Muthithi, Kahumbu,Giathaini and Kandani.
Venues: Ikumni Shopping Centre, Kimotho Shopping Centre, Kangari Polytechnic, Kangundu Chief’s Camp, Kamunganga ACK Ground, Gacharage Playground, Kamukabi Chief’s Camp, Karuri Chief’s Camp, Muthithi Dispensary, KaharioShopping Centre, Mwema ECDE Playground and Magumo-Ini Chiefs Camp.

Ithanga Sub-County
Locations: Nanga, Thuthua, Mukeu, Kakuzi, Ngatho, Ithanga, Kirathani, and Ngelelya.
Venues: Mitumbiri Polytechnic, Matunda Polytechnic, Ithanga DO’s Office, Kirathani Chief’s Camp, and Ngelelya Chief’s Camp.
Kahuro Sub-County
Locations: Kiria, Mugoiri, Gatundu, Githagara, Weithaga, Kahuhia, Gathamba, Gatuya, Murarandia, Kionjo-ini, Kaganda.
Venues: Kiria’s Chief Camp, Kahuro Social Hall, Karuru Polytechnic, Githagara Chief’s Camp, Weithaga, Kahuhia Primary School, Gatheru playground, Kahatia Social Hall, Kirwara Vocational training.
