The Office of the Kisumu County Woman Representative, Ruth Odinga, has appointed Ex-KTN Journalist Kevin Ogutu as Press Secretary and Head of Strategic Communications.
In a statement dated May 3, the office announced the appointment of confirming Ogutu’s assumption of the position, effective immediately.
“The Office of the Kisumu County Woman Representative, Hon. Ruth Odinga, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Ogutu as Press Secretary and Head of Strategic Communications, effective immediately,” the statement read in part.
It further stated that Kevin Ogutu was joining the team as a professional who understands the pulse of the newsroom and the precision of strategic PR.
“He joins the team as a decorated multimedia journalist and communications architect. With a storied career spanning KTN, editorial leadership at The City Review (South Sudan), and a recent tenure on the PRSK Editorial Committee, Mr Ogutu brings an unparalleled “dual-lens” perspective to the office,” the statement noted.

The statement additionally highlighted that under Ogutu’s leadership, the office will implement a modernised media engagement framework.

Kevin Ogutu will ensure proactive media access, coordinating all national and regional press inquiries efficiently to improve communication flow.
He is also expected to drive a digital-first narrative, focusing on social impact storytelling across multimedia platforms to engage the public effectively and oversee strategic policy communication, translating Ruth Odinga’s legislative work in Parliament into clear, actionable information for her constituents.
Profile of Ex-KTN Journalist Kevin Ogutu
Kevin Ogutu is a Kenyan multimedia journalist who worked for KTN, owned by the Standard Group, as a reporter and correspondent in the Nyanza region.
He later transitioned into communications consulting.

Ogutu attended Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology from 2010 to 2014, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.
He began as a news reporter and correspondent for The Standard Group in Kisumu from 2016 to 2022, covering breaking news, politics, lifestyle, and features.
Post-KTN, he worked as Features Editor at The City Review newspaper in Juba, South Sudan (May-November 2022), then as Senior Consultant at Ace Communications there until April 2023.
Since April 2023, he has been Co-Founder and Managing Director of Ogasi Communications in Nairobi, handling leadership, business development, risk management, and corporate social responsibility.
