Ali Roba is a Kenyan politician, former Governor of Mandera, and the United Democratic Movement (UDM) party leader. He was elected Senator of Mandera in 2022.
He has advanced in politics from being a pilot and a significant contributor to the aviation sector in Kenya.
Ali Roba was born in Rhamu town in Mandera County on 15th of March 1974.

After completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), he joined Kenya Utalii College, in 1995 graduating with a certificate.
He attended Qualiflight School of Aviation in Fort Worth Texas and Kenya School of Flying to pursue aviation in 2000.
Ali Roba also studied both his Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Nairobi.
He graduated with degrees in marketing and strategic management respectively.

Ali Roba is the former Mandera Governor and United Democratic Movement (UDM) party leader.
He was the first Governor of Mandera in 2013 after the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
Additionally, he has over ten years of extensive management training, and over 24 years of work experience most of which are in senior management.
He made a major turn from being a pilot to venturing into politics in 2013. However, he went against the odds and vied for an elective seat and won the elections.
Additionally, he is a pilot with an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL). He works as an instructor and examiner and is an approved Instrument Rating Examiner.

Furthermore, he has received training as a ground instructor in various aviation-related subjects.
He worked as a co-pilot between 2002 and 2012 under a Multinational Company called DAC Aviation International and rose to the position of Director of Flight Operations (DFO).
In 2008, he was appointed to the position of Chief Pilot at DAC Aviation where he played an instrumental role in its operations.
He has played a crucial role in restructuring flight operations and improving the efficiency of operational control functions within Kenya’s general aviation industry.
