Charles Onchoke Mamwacha is a Kenyan politician serving as the Member of Parliament for Bonchari Constituency in Kisii County.
He was elected to Parliament in 2022, running on the ticket of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) party.
Before entering politics, Onchoke had an extensive career in financial management and public administration.
Educational background of Charles Onchoke
Charles Onchoke holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi, obtained between 1984 and 1987.
He later earned a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the same university between 1999 and 2002.
Continuing his academic pursuits, Charles Onchoke completed a master’s in accountancy at Glasgow University in 1991–1992.
Subsequently, he attained a Doctor of Business Administration from Argosy University between 2010 and 2012.
Career life
Onchoke’s professional path spans several decades in public finance and consultancy.
Starting in 1993, he served as Chief Accountant at the City Council of Nairobi until 1998, and within the same council was Assistant General Manager between 1996 and 1999.
In 2000, he transitioned to the Municipal Council of Kisumu as Deputy City Treasurer, serving until 2003.
Briefly, from February to May 2003, he held the position of Town Treasurer at that council.
In 2003, he joined the National Treasury of Kenya as Director of Finance, a position he held until 2014.
Following this, he shifted to international financial consultancy, working as a Business Manager at Texas Tech University in 2021–2022 and serving as a Financial Management Expert with LODA in Rwanda under the World Bank between 2018 and 2021.
Since 2015, he has also served as Director/Consultant at CDCI Consultancy LLC.
