Hillary Mutyambai is a Kenyan police officer and former Inspector-General of police in Kenya.
Age and Early Life
He was born in 1964 in Mwala Machakos. He was raised in a Christian family background.
While growing up, Mutyambai dreamt of serving the Catholic church.

He attended Pope Paul VI seminary School in Machakos where he completed his secondary education.
Hillary holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Arts degree in National Security Policy from the Australian National University.
In addition, he holds a certificate in counter-terrorism from the University of New Orleans in the United States (US).
Moreover, he has special training in counter-terrorism and advanced security from the United Kingdom and policing, intelligence, and Counter-Terrorism in Israel.
Career Background
The peak of his career was in 2019 when he was nominated as Inspector-General of Police by Former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Before his appointment to the office of IG, he was Deputy Director in charge of Counterterrorism.
Mutyambai joined the police service as a junior officer in 1991 later he became a Police Superintendent.
In 1998, he worked at the Directorate of Security Intelligence before rising in ranks.
Hillary worked at the Kenya High Commission in Kampala, Uganda as a political attaché from 2000-20004.
During his tenure as the Inspector General, he declared a crackdown on rogue officers in the force.
Further, he led personnel of 100,000 in the Kenya Police Service, Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and General Service Unit.
He oversaw 24,000 APS that joined the police service, and in his era, new uniforms were issued to the police officers.
During his early life he taught biology, mathematics, and physics at his former school Pope Paul VI seminary school in Machakos.
