Martha Wangari began her secondary education at Kahuhia Girls High School, where she attained her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2001.
She then enrolled at the University of Nairobi, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Statistics.
In 2011 when she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Impact Analysis (EIA) at Africa Nazarene University.

Wanjira’s public service and political journey began in 2007, when she joined the Kibaki Tena Secretariat as a founder member, community mobiliser, and strategist.
Between 2010 and 2013, she played a key role in party politics as a founding member and National Treasurer of the United Democratic Forum (UDF) party.
In 2013, she was nominated to the Senate by the Jubilee Coalition, where she served until 2017.
During this term, she served in several parliamentary committees, including Labour and Social Welfare (Vice-Chairperson), Land and Natural Resources, and County Public Accounts and Investments.
Martha Wangari was also an executive member of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association and served as Deputy Secretary of the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA).
In the 2017 General Election, she was elected Member of the National Assembly for Gilgil Constituency, serving up to 2022, and was re-elected afterwards.
During this period, she held memberships in the Defence and Foreign Relations and Delegated Legislation committees, contributing to national policy debates and security oversight.
