Eric Muchangi Njiru, popularly known as ‘Karemba’, is a Kenyan politician and a member of parliament for Runyenjes constituency in Embu County, serving under the United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA).
He was born on October 24, 1984.
Eric Muchangi got his nickname “Karemba” because of his signature white headgear and is well on his way to becoming the first member of the Akorino community to be elected to Parliament.

Eric Muchangi began his formal education at Kiangungi Primary School, where he studied from 1990 to 1999.
After sitting his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), he proceeded to Kegonge Boys High School where he studied between 2000 and 2003 and sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In 2005, he joined Kenyatta University and pursued a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree, which he completed in 2010.
Later, he enrolled at Mount Kenya University, where he earned a Master of Arts in Public Administration between 2011 and 2013.

Muchangi Njiru began his professional journey in the education sector, where he worked as a teacher at St. Gladys School between 2008 and 2009.
In 2009, he transitioned into the corporate sector and became the Chief Executive Officer of Dolphins Group, a position he held until 2017.
His entry into politics came in 2017 when he contested and won the seat of Member of Parliament for Runyenjes Constituency under the Jubilee Party.
He was re-elected in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, confirming his popularity and consistent presence in Embu County’s political landscape.
Currently, Karemba serves as the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Labour and Social Welfare Committee, where he leads discussions and oversight on employment laws, labour standards, and social protection matters.
