Elijah Memusi Kanchory is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Kajiado Central Constituency under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Early Life & Education
Elijah Memusi Kanchory was born in 1977 in Moipei Village, Kajiado Central Constituency, Kajiado County.
Raised in a pastoralist family, he spent his early years herding goats and cattle, experiences that shaped his understanding of the challenges facing his community and fueled his drive for leadership and development.
He began his education at Moipei Primary School, completing his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 1991.
Kanchory then joined Olkejuado High School, where he studied from 1992 to 1995 and earned his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
He proceeded to Africa Nazarene University, graduating in 2002 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Banking and Finance.
In 2018, while serving as a Member of Parliament, he enrolled at the University of Nairobi to study law.
He completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 2022 and joined the Kenya School of Law for advocate training.

Professional career
Elijah Memusi Kanchory began his career in the banking sector shortly after graduating from Africa Nazarene University.
From 2003 to 2006, he worked at Barclays Bank as a Relationship Manager, gaining experience in financial management and customer relations.
Alongside his banking career, Kanchory ventured into entrepreneurship. He founded and managed Osilligi Lang and Oloililai Construction, businesses focused on local development and infrastructure.
In 2004, he established the Memusi Foundation, a community-based organization dedicated to supporting education and improving the welfare of vulnerable families.

The foundation has provided scholarships, school supplies, and other forms of assistance to underprivileged children.
Political career
Elijah Memusi Kanchory entered active politics in 2015 following the passing of then Kajiado Central MP Joseph Nkaissery, who had been appointed Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government.
Running on an ODM (Orange Democratic Movement) ticket, Kanchory contested the March 2015 by-election and won, defeating Patrick Tutui of the Jubilee Alliance Party.
In the 2017 General Election, Kanchory successfully defended his seat on the ODM ticket, securing a second term.
In 2022, Kanchory was re-elected for a third term, again under ODM. His continued success reflected his reputation as a dedicated representative and a vocal advocate for his constituency.
Throughout his tenure, he has been involved in various parliamentary committees, including those dealing with budget and appropriation, education, and regional development, using his platform to address key challenges affecting Kajiado Central.
