Mohammed Fatuma Zainab is a Kenyan politician and the current Woman Representative for Migori County in the National Assembly.
Early life and education
Mohammed Fatuma Zainab spent her formative years in Mandera County, where she undertook her primary education at Macalder Primary School from 1981 to 1989, earning in her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
She continued her academic journey at Nyabisawa Secondary School between 1990 and 1993, earning her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Many years later, she pursued further professional development, obtaining a certificate from ECPS College during 2014–2015, followed by a diploma from Eldoret College of Professional Studies in 2016–2017.
Her commitment to furthering her academic credentials continues, as she is currently pursuing a university degree at Tangaza University.
Career
Professional career
From 2009 to 2010, Fatuma Zainab served as a Business Manager at Fiera Milano, then advanced to the role of Business Administrator at Tibb S.R.L. from 2010 to 2011.

Her professional trajectory took a pivotal turn when she joined Kenya Regular Services (K.R.S.), where she held the position of Director from 2011 until 2022.
Political Career
In the 2022 general elections, Mohammed Fatuma Zainab emerged as an independent candidate and made history by winning the Woman Representative seat for Migori County.
Her victory was notable not only for unseating a well-entrenched opponent, but also for being the first independent candidate to win a Woman Representative seat in Nyanza Region, a stronghold of Kenya’s ODM party.
In Parliament, she quickly gained recognition when she was elected Chairperson of the Special Funds Account Committee following a secret ballot in which she secured eight votes to defeat Hon. Shakeel Ahmed Shabbir’s four.
