Joshua Kandie Chepyegon is a Kenyan politician currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Baringo Central Constituency in Baringo County.
Early Life & Education
Joshua Kandie Chepyegon was born on July 1, 1964, in Kapsogo Village, Baringo County.
He began his education at Borowonin Primary School from 1971 to 1977, completing his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
In 1978, he joined Kabarnet High School, where he studied until 1981 and successfully earned his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
After high school, Kandie traveled to Germany to further his studies. He enrolled at Augsburg University in 1985, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1989.
He immediately continued with a Master’s degree in Economics at the same institution, which he completed in 1991.
Years later, even while serving as a Member of Parliament from 2017 to 2020, he completed a Master’s degree in Finance at Methodist University, equipping him with advanced knowledge in financial management and public budgeting.

Professional career
Joshua Kandie began his career in the financial sector after completing his postgraduate studies in Germany. From 1992 to 1996, he worked as an Account Manager at Bacchus Bank in Germany.
After returning to Kenya in 1997, Kandie ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing businesses that focused on community development, agriculture, and trade within Baringo County.
In 2004, Kandie founded several local initiatives aimed at supporting education and healthcare services, particularly in rural communities.
Political Career
Joshua Kandie Chepyegon officially entered politics in 2017, contesting for the Baringo Central parliamentary seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party ticket and successfully clinched it.

During his first term in Parliament from 2017 to 2020, he served on the Constituency Information Oversight Committee (CIOC), which focused on transparency and accountability in the management of constituency development funds.
During this same period, he was also a member of the Departmental Committee on Finance, contributing to legislation and policies on national budgeting and fiscal management.
In 2020, Kandie was appointed to the Public Investments Committee, where he helped oversee the use of public funds and ensure that government investments delivered value to citizens.
He also serves on the Public Petitions Committee, which addresses concerns brought directly by citizens to Parliament.
Ahead of the 2022 General Election, Kandie shifted his political allegiance to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party allied with President William Ruto.
Running under the UDA banner, he was re-elected with 25,055 votes, defeating his closest rival, former MP Sammy Mwaita, who garnered 9,519 votes.
