Lemanken Aramat is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Narok East Constituency under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Early Life & Education
Lemanken Aramat was born and brought up in Narok County and pursued his early primary school studies in Narok before advancing to secondary school.
In 1992, he attended Handa Secondary School, where he sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and successfully graduated in 1995.
After completing his secondary education, he joined Rajasthan Vidyapith University in India in 1993.
Between 1993 and 1996, he undertook a Bachelor of Commerce degree, followed by postgraduate studies at the same institution from 1997 to 2000, where he earned a Master’s degree.
These academic qualifications grounded him in commerce, management, and leadership, preparing him for roles that bridged professional practice and public service.
Career
Professional career
After completing his university studies, Lemanken Aramat began his professional journey at Oserian Development Company Limited, one of Kenya’s largest horticultural firms.
In November 2000, he was appointed Training Manager, a position he held until March 2003, during which time he oversaw staff development and skills advancement within the company.
He then moved into human resources, serving as Senior Human Resource Assistant from January 2003 to September 2005, where he managed personnel issues and strengthened employee–management relations.
In September 2005, he was promoted to Community Liaison Manager, a position he held until 2012.
In this capacity, he worked closely with local communities around the flower farms, addressing labour concerns, corporate social responsibility projects, and stakeholder engagement.

This decade-long service gave him broad exposure to labour dynamics, corporate management, and grassroots development, shaping the leadership skills that later defined his entry into politics. He left the company to pursue a career in parliamentary politics and took his seat in the National Assembly in March 2013.
Political Career
Lemanken Aramat entered elective politics in 2013 when Narok East Constituency was created ahead of the general election.
Running on a Kenya National Congress (KNC) ticket, he won the parliamentary seat with 5,616 votes, defeating seasoned candidates, among them former Heritage Assistant Minister Andrew Sunkuli.
His victory was challenged in court, but the petition was dismissed, affirming his position as the first MP for the new constituency.
In the 11th Parliament (2013–2017), Aramat served on the Departmental Committee on Energy and the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee, where he contributed to shaping policy on energy and monitored the implementation of the 2010 Constitution.
Ahead of the 2017 general election, Aramat shifted his political allegiance to the Jubilee Party, successfully defending his Narok East seat and securing a second term in Parliament.
During the 12th Parliament (2017–2022), he continued to serve on the Departmental Committee on Energy, consolidating his involvement in energy policy, infrastructure development, and rural electrification matters.
In 2022, Aramat contested the Narok East seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the dominant party within the Kenya Kwanza coalition, and was re-elected, securing a third consecutive term.
In the 13th Parliament, Aramat has remained active in legislative debates and committee work, with a continued focus on energy, agriculture, and constituency development.
