Career BackgroundÂ
After finishing his education, he went on to practice law. He started off in a private Practice.Â
He would later join the Law firm of  Messrs Waruhiu and Muite Advocates in 1982 and was admitted to the roll of advocates in 1983.Â
He later advanced and became a salaried partner in 1985 then a full partner in 1987.Â
Moreover, he went on and established his own practice, Mohammed Ibrahim and Associates in 1994. His firm expanded to become Ibrahim and Isaac Advocates in 1997.Â
His law firm litigated civil and constitutional cases and specialized in banking law, company law, bankruptcy, commercial law, property law, conveyancing and insurance law.Â
He was an active member of the Law Society of Kenya in 1994. He was later elected to the council for a term of one year.Â
Additionally, he has worked with Kituo Cha Sheria and was a member of the Board of the Legal Education and Aid Programme (LEAD).Â

Moreover, he is a past member of Lawyers Committee for Human Rights and a current member of the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association.Â
He was appointed as a High court Judge in 2003 and served at the Civil Division of the High Court, Milimani, Nairobi.Â
He was later transferred to the Commercial Division of the High Court at Milimani in 2003.Â
In 2004 he was appointed to the newly established Judicial Review and Constitutional Division of the High Court, where he remained until he was transferred to the Eldoret High Court in January 2006.Â
He served as a resident judge at the Eldoret between 2007-2009 where he heard matters for the entire North Rift Valley, from time to time assisting the High Court in Kisii.Â
In 2009, he was transferred to the High Court in Mombasa, where he also served as Resident Judge until he was elevated to Supreme Court of Kenya.Â
Achievements for Justice Mohammed IbrahimÂ
He was the first among his Somali community to be admitted to the bar as an advocate.Â
Additionally, he was a founding trustee of the human rights organization, Mwangaza Trust until 1994.Â
One of his major achievements for his own community was his fight against the discrimination of Kenya-Somali.Â
The Government had gazetted the use of the “pink cards” which were secondary identity cards issued upon provision of further proof of verification of citizenship, and which was used to relegate Somali community to second class citizens.Â
He was detained without trial, when he opposed the one party-regime in 1990. He spent one month in solitary confinement in Kamiti prison for giving legal advice and supporting pro-democracy champions.Â
