Nebart Bernard Muriuki is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Mbeere South Constituency in Embu County.
Early Life and Education
Nebart Bernard Muriuki was born and raised in Embu County, where he began his educational journey with a strong focus on academic excellence.
His secondary education commenced at Kangaru High School, where he undertook his O-Level studies from 1972 to 1975, excelling in the sciences and laying a strong foundation for his future career in engineering.
Driven by a passion for technology and leadership, he proceeded to A-Level studies at the same institution between 1975 and 1977, specializing in science subjects.
In 1978, Bernard joined the University of Nairobi, enrolling in the Faculty of Engineering and successfully graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
In 1986, he traveled to the United Kingdom to further his studies at the prestigious Loughborough University of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science degree in Digital Communications in 1987.
Between 2000 and 2004, he returned to the University of Nairobi to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
This program expanded his expertise beyond engineering into leadership and management, preparing him for senior roles in education, governance, and public service.

Professional career
Nebart Benard’s career began in 1983 when he joined Kenya Posts as an Executive Engineer, where he worked until 1986.
Following this initial experience, he was promoted to Senior Engineer at Kenya Posts and Telecommunications, a role he held from 1986 to 1989.
Demonstrating exceptional leadership and technical skills, he advanced further to become Principal Engineer at the same organization, serving from 1989 to 1992.
In 1992, Bernard transitioned to the academic field, joining the Kenya College of Communication Technology (KCCT), now known as the Multimedia University of Kenya.
Over the next sixteen years, he played a key role in academic affairs and institutional development. His tenure at KCCT was marked by initiatives that modernized communication technology training in the country.
In 2008, he was appointed Deputy Director of Multimedia University, a position he held until 2010, further influencing the direction of higher education in Kenya.
From 2014 to 2016, Bernard served as Director of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Authority, a critical national body responsible for shaping Kenya’s technical and vocational education policies.

In 2016, he briefly held the role of Acting Chairman of the TVET Authority, demonstrating his ability to lead at the highest level.
Political Career
Known for its semi-arid conditions and persistent struggles with water scarcity, drought, and poverty, Mbeere South Constituency required transformative leadership.
In August 2022, Bernard contested the parliamentary seat as an independent candidate, bringing his vision of leveraging education and infrastructure for community development.
His message resonated with voters, and he was successfully elected as the Member of Parliament for Mbeere South Constituency.
Upon his election, he aligned himself with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza Alliance, strengthening his ability to collaborate with the national government on development initiatives.
In Parliament, Hon. Muriuki has been vocal about the urgent need to tackle drought and hunger in Mbeere South. In a notable parliamentary address on 12 October 2022, he emphasized the importance of utilizing existing water infrastructure, such as dams, for irrigation and the provision of clean drinking water.
