Eucabeth Adhiambo Ojwang, the mother of the late blogger Albert Ojwang, has spoken bitterly about the individual who led the police to their home in Kokwanyo Ward, Kasipul Kabondo in Homabay County.
Speaking during the burial ceremony, Adhiambo narrated how she struggled to bring up Albert.
She said the individual who directed the police is a resident of Kokwanyo Ward.
Adhiambo said the police could not have travelled from Nairobi directly to their home in Homabay without intel from an insider.
In addition, Albert’s mother wondered how the detectives identified her son’s face, stating that locals used to refer to him as “Omondi” and not “Albert”, as the police knew him.
Adhiambo said they don’t know the exact identity of the person, but he was not an outsider.
“The person who directed the police to Albert Ojwang was not from outside this area. Nobody can travel from Nairobi and know that there is a person by the name of Albert. He is known as Omondi here in Kokwanya. I don’t know the person who did this, but God knows,” Adhiambo said.
“Don’t sleep, Albert, start with the person who gave those people your location,” Adhiambo said.

Albert Ojwang Death was a Shock
Adhiambo said she was shocked by the death of her son.
She recalled how the police took Albert when they were having supper and regretted letting him go.
“I only had one child, and I was surprised by what the police had done. They could have at least asked me,” she said.
In her remarks, Abert’s mother also recalled how she worked as a maid, burnt charcoal, hawked on the streets and sold firewood to educate Albert.

Slamming the Police
Adhiambo criticised the police for Albert’s death, stating that they could have killed her instead.
“I struggled with him in Malindi when most people knew I was living a good life. I made sure he was educated, and right now, some people have taken him. They took him from my hands; they could have killed me and left Albert to help his family,” Adhiambo added.
She went ahead to thank everyone who was involved in the incident since Albert was arrested until the body arrived back in Homa Bay.
Ojwang died while being detained at the Nairobi Central police station on June 8, 2025.
