Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has announced a 24-hour water supply interruption in parts of Nairobi City County.

In a public notice issued on February 18 by Martin Ngarilo, the Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company Ltd., Acting Managing Director, the disruption follows the planned shutdown of the Sasumua Water Treatment Plant to facilitate essential works aimed at improving production efficiency.

The shutdown will take effect at 6:00 am on February 20, 2026, and end at 6:00 am on February 21, 2026. During this period, several estates across the city will experience water supply interruptions.

“The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company will temporarily shut down the Sasumua Water Treatment Plant from 20th February 2026 at 06:00 am to 21st February 2026 at 06:00 am to carry out essential works aimed at improving production efficiency,” the notice read in part.

The company said the temporary closure is part of ongoing efforts to improve reliability and enhance water production systems. Residents in affected areas are expected to experience no water supply or a reduced supply within the stated timeframe.

“We advise our esteemed customers to use available water sparingly during this interruption period and to store sufficient water where possible. Any inconvenience is regretted,” the company noted.
