Israel’s ambassador to Rwanda Elinat Weiss shared an emotional message as she bade farewell to her partner who was flying back home to fight.
Weiss shared a picture of herself and her partner embracing each other next to an Israeli flag moments before his departure.
Further, she noted that he would be fighting on the frontline with other compatriots adding that she was praying for his safety.
“Extremely emotional moment as I say goodbye to my partner Aviad, who went back home to fight to defend Israel, together with other compatriots on the frontline.
“Praying for his safety and the safety of all the brave women and men sacrificing to defend our nation,” her statement read in part.
The Ambassador’s Take on the War Between Israel and Palestine
In a press briefing on Monday, October 9, Weiss shared her sympathy for the people of Israel who were casualties of the ongoing conflict stating that many lost their families and friends.

According to her, some of the Israeli nationals were attacked while practicing one of the Jewish holidays in the synagogue.
“I want to share with you what we are going through especially the people of Israel who have woken up yesterday to a different reality, to a massacre against the families, against the kids, against the elders, against innocent people.
“They did nothing but were either sleeping or they went out to the synagogue to practice one of the last days of one of the Jewish holidays,” she stated.
Further she explained that Hamas, who she referred to as a terror group, attacked the people without discrimination for reasons that are unknown. she added that the Israeli nationals were captured and held hostage in Gaza.
“All they want to do is kill, there is no idea behind it, there is no reasoning with them, that is all they want to do. We have dozens of people who were kidnapped from their beds in their homes and were taken hostage in Gaza,” lamented the ambassador.

Ruto Stance on the Israeli and Palestine War
On October 7, President William Ruto stated that Kenya will stand with Israel despite opposing sentiments from African Union (AU) Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat.
“Kenya joins the rest of the world in solidarity with the State of Israel and unequivocally condemn terrorism and attacks on innocent civilians in the country,” Ruto stated.
According to the AU chairperson, the people of Palestinian were denied the right to an independent and sovereign state, calling on the two warring countries to put an end to military hostilities.
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
The major cause of conflict between the two countries is alleged to be Israel’s occupation of Gaza and the West Bank. However, Israel, has refused to comply with these resolutions.
In 2023, Israel approved almost 13,000 settlement homes and those who oppose the violent appropriation of Palestinian land have been slaughtered.
