Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino has encouraged Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates who failed to attain the minimum university entry grade.
In a statement on January 9, the MP advised the students not to feel embarrassed by their results.
The MP explained that people who are embarrassed by their failure cannot succeed, adding that it is part of the success process.
“My advice to the 694,400 Students who never scored C+ and above by differing with the examiners. Do not be embarrassed by your failure, learn from it and start,” Babu advised.
“Winners are not afraid of losing. But losers are. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success,” he added.
Further, Babu motivated the candidates to think positively and allow themselves to succeed instead of failing in life.
He argued that success comes after failure, frustrations and sometimes catastrophe.
“Success is not built on success. It’s built on failure. It’s built on frustration. Sometimes it’s built on catastrophe. When we give ourselves permission to fail, we, at the same time, give ourselves permission to excel,” said Babu Owino.
Besides, he said the fear of failure in the only thing that makes a dream impossible.
According to the MP the candidates need courage to continue in order to accomplish their goals.
Babu Owino Urges Candidates to go for Higher Education
Additionally, he advised the candidates to go for certificates and diploma courses and pursue degree courses afterwards.
“Stand up and dust yourself, there are many opportunities still waiting for you. Let some register for Certificate Courses while others do Diploma courses. But don’t stop there, after Diploma go for a degree course,” Babu Owino stated.
Also, he urged the students to consider repeating form four and embrace their talents as well.

“For some don’t fear to repeat form 4 for there’s no hurry in life, fail 9 times rise 10 you shall still have succeeded. Some can invest in their Talents for there are many avenues to the city of victory,” he added.
Babu Owino emphasized that the candidates would succeed if they don’t give up and put God first.
KCSE Results
A total of 201,133 candidates scored above C+ which is the minimum university entry grade in the 2023 KCSE exams.
This translates to 22% out of the 899,453 candidates who sat for the exams.
In the breakdown, 1,216 scored grade A, 7,254 scored A-(minus) while 18,078 attained B+(plus).

Another 36,728 scored B(plain), 59,514 attained grade B-(minus) while 78,343 had C+(plus).
Also, 92,612 candidates scored C (plain) while 107,471 others scored C-(minus).
Furthermore, 125,006 candidates scored D+(plus), 155,276 attained grade D(plain), 165,861 had D-(minus) while 48,174 candidates recorded grade E.
