A CCTV footage has revealed the disturbing moment a pedestrian, who appeared to be attempting suicide, was struck by a vehicle.
The incident occurred on Tuesday January 21 along the Jomo Kenyatta Highway near Tivoli Centre in Kisumu
In videos seen by The Kenya Times, the man was first seen walking on the median strip, the part that divides traffic lanes moving in opposite directions on a highway or dual carriageway.
Later in the footage, a white car can be seen moving in the opposite direction towards the pedestrian.

In the footage, the man appears to be attempting suicide as he jumps in front of an oncoming car.
However, the driver quickly applied the brakes, narrowly avoiding a direct collision. The man was grazed but continued walking in the middle of the road.

Additionally, another black car appears to have swerved away, moving far from him after witnessing him jumping in front of the first car.
Despite the initial impact, the man continues walking along the road, seemingly unfazed.
Tragically, moments later, he jumps directly in front of an oncoming Toyota Prado SUV. The vehicle, unable to stop in time, strikes the pedestrian, resulting in his death.
The driver of the Prado SUV is seen exiting the vehicle and walking toward the spot where the deceased had fallen. After a brief moment at the scene, the driver then returns to the vehicle and drives off.

The incident initially sparked widespread speculation, with some social media users claiming it was a hit-and-run.
Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi was among the first to share an image of the deceased, alleging that two speeding high-end vehicles had struck the man while en route from the Imperial Sarova Hotel.
“It is said that the cars had reportedly picked up a politician who was rushing for a meeting. The drivers failed to stop following the collision,” Nyakundi claimed.
However, further investigation into the incident revealed a different sequence of events, with most users sharing the footage. Users were quick to criticize those spreading misinformation.
“This is not accurate bro, there’s a cctv that showed the man was either not okay in the brain or it’s sucide ! The first car missed him by a whisker! The Prado that hit him was not over speeding and the driver even stopped after the incident,” X user Robert Ogallo said.
Another user Lizz Betty chimed in stating, ” “Oh no, I have to disagree with you on this. It’s not a hit-and-run! The guy was on a suicidal mission.”
“He saw an oncoming vehicle and jumped onto the road, but the car braked very quickly, so he didn’t really get injured. Then, he pulled the same stunt with the next car,” she added.
