A content creator known online as “Hon. Mosquito” has been arrested in Mombasa County in connection with a seditious video shared widely on TikTok last week.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Shedrack Omondi Okindo was apprehended by detectives in the Miritini area after a viral clip posted on August 1 allegedly contained threats of violence and incitement against public order.
The video triggered a wave of public concern and prompted immediate action by security agencies.
Authorities say forensic investigations led them to Okindo’s location, where he was taken into custody without incident.
A search of his residence uncovered two pairs of tactical combat fatigues, a notebook referencing guerrilla resistance tactics, three mobile phones, assorted documents affiliated with the Justice Direction Party, and other undisclosed items.
One of the notebook entries reportedly read:
“We are going to apply guerrilla resistance tactics, Justice to all freedom heroes.”
Okindo is currently being processed and remains in custody as he awaits a court appearance.

Cop Shakur Arrested
This comes barely a week after the arrest of Jackson Kuria Kimani, alias Cop Shakur, a former prison officer who gained national attention during the 2024 anti-finance protests for his vocal criticism of the government.
Kuria was taken into custody on Wednesday, July 30, reportedly by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and later escorted to the directorate’s headquarters.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kuria shared a video on his social media platforms showing the moment he was approached by officers who blocked him from leaving the court.
“Identify yourself. They want to arrest me. I am here at Kahawa Law Courts. I came to stand with my friend. The only thing I have here is a Kenyan flag. Identify yourself,” Shakur is heard saying in the video, addressing one of the officers, who then shows his identification card.
After glancing at the card, Shakur, who was inside a vehicle, responds, “I have seen it. What am I being arrested for?” This was before he alighted from the vehicle.
Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement
Kuria’s arrest came just days after he, along with police constable Hiram Kimathi and former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier and security expert Patrick Osoi, announced the formation of the Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement, a group aiming to defend victims of extrajudicial killings.

On the night of Tuesday, July 29, Osoi was also arrested by a team of detectives from DCI.
“Free Patrick Osoi. Patrick Osoi was abducted last night by a contingent of heavily armed men. Reasons for this are still unknown,” read a statement by his communications team.
While announcing the formation, Kuria said that they “will privately investigate the extrajudicial killings and document them.”
On his part, Osoi stated, “Having served as a KDF Special Forces soldier, NIS officer, and a US Army Veteran, I have taken the solemn initiative of bringing together cops who share the same ideology of fighting for Kenyans.”
The ex-KDF officer added that the group seeks to advocate for victims of police brutality, including those harmed or killed during the June 25, 2024, protests and beyond.
“Our mandate is to bring justice to our people, and we will fight tooth and nail to achieve it,” Osoi added.
