Patricia Terer Ondeng’, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), has been appointed to a new role in the Government, as the new Secretary of Public Communications by the Public Service Commission of Kenya on 13th September 2025.
Her appointment marks a major step in strengthening the government’s communication systems, given her vast experience in corporate communication, stakeholder management, and strategic leadership.
With over 30 years of experience, she brings extensive expertise that is set to raise the bar for public communication across government institutions.
Patricia’s professional training in communications, combined with her leadership experience, has earned her a reputation as one of Kenya’s most authoritative and respected figures in corporate communications.
Her career began when she worked as a Personal Secretary at the Ministry of Health from January 1993 to September 1995, where she worked closely with the Provincial Medical Officer to understand desired results and manage expectations.

Then she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Rift Valley Region from January 1996 to April 2005 where she managed information and databases for different organizational activities.
From May 2005 to December 2010, she worked at Catering and Tourism Development Levy Trustees as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer, and then she worked her way up to a senior role.
At the Tourism Fund, she managed strategic communications, brand integrity, stakeholder relations, and corporate visibility.
Patricia climbed the ranks from Corporate Affairs Officer to Corporate Affairs Manager, and eventually to Corporate Communication and Marketing Manager, spearheading reforms that streamlined operations, redefined communication strategies, and strengthened stakeholder relations.

Previously, Patricia served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) from December 2022 to January 2025.
During her time in office, she steered the corporation through a period of exceptional growth, achieving a 17% revenue increase compared to the second half of 2022.
She also played a central role in restoring stakeholder confidence, rebuilding partnerships, and positioning KICC as a competitive player in the global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.
Staff welfare was one of her top priorities, leading to the review of the Corporation’s Human Resource instruments to improve efficiency and morale.
Her focus on staff welfare and institutional reforms also left a lasting mark on the organization.
