Former President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s aide, who was the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, has outlined ways President William Ruto can win back the hearts of the Mount Kenya people after a bitter fallout with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. While speaking in a media interview on April 4, 2025, Francis Kimemia stated that a key way for President Ruto to reconcile with Mount Kenya is to deliver on his promises.
“This is a groundbreaking visit; he needs to return with a scorecard because he himself made these promises. We need to really check, you know, he appointed people from the mountain. We have seen some dropped. Is the replacement equitable? Because if you drop a minister and appoint a diplomat, are they equitable? It may not have to be equal.
He needs to reassure himself of the projects that he committed to Mount Kenya,” Kimemia advised.
Kimemia Advises Ruto on How to Reconcile with Mt Kenya People
Additionally, he advised President William Ruto to speak less and take more action as a way to win the region back.
At the same time, the former Nyandarua Governor said that for President William Ruto to fulfill his promises, he must hire professionals in public service, not politicians.
“You must organize your statecraft in a manner that delivers for the president because once you finish politics, you cannot be politicking all the time; then you leave governance to the bureaucracy, the civil service, and the public service. If you depend on politicians, you are done. Go to the professionals of governance,” Kimemia added.

He also advised government officials working closely with the President not to fear being sacked for telling him the truth in areas where he is not performing well.
Ruto Says He Will Not Relent in Visiting Mt. Kenya Region
Kimemia’s sentiments come at a time when President Ruto is touring the Mount Kenya region, which began on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
President William Ruto’s tour of the region also coincides with his recent fallout with several leaders from the area, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Public Service CS Justin Muturi, whom he recently sacked.

Despite initial fears of receiving a cold reception, he has, to the contrary, received a warm welcome, with large crowds greeting him during his tour across various areas in the region.
President William Ruto has stated his commitment to visiting the Mount Kenya region frequently, emphasizing that he will continue these visits until the people are satisfied with his efforts.
