Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua chaired a cabinet Sub-Committee meeting at his official residence in Karen after quietly jetting into the country on October 31, evening.
The second in command chaired the meeting on Wednesday, November 1, and was brought up to speed on the ongoing projects in the country.
“Today, I chaired a Cabinet Committee meeting at the Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi,” a statement in his official X account reads in part.
He further affirmed that the meeting was crucial for a people-centered implementation of Kenya Kwanza administration’s bottom-up economic transformation agenda.
“For a People-centered implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, through interministerial strategic consultations and review of decisions, this is crucial,” he noted.
According to the second in command, such meetings allow the government to make necessary and timely adjustments for effective and efficient service delivery.
Moreover, a statement from the office of the Deputy President, noted that Gachagua was given eight mandates by President William Ruto to execute after his arrival.
“The DP has been given 8 mandates by the President and is working round the clock to ensure that all the mandates are executed,” the statement reads in part.
DP Gachagua came back to the country after a week-long visit to Belgium and Germany with the Second Lady Dorcas Gachagua.
Gachagua Missing King Charles First Day Visit
Earlier on October 31, the deputy president received backlash from Kenyans for missing the reception and dinner with Britain’s Monarch King Charles III and Queen Camila at State House, Nairobi.
X users questioned the whereabouts of Gachagua sharing memes of edited photos of the DP and the royals.
Moreover, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) communication director Philip Etale questioned the absence of the second in command while the King is visiting.
“But why is Gachagua still out of the country when the King is visiting Kenya. Was his trip planned so that he does not invoke the ‘watoto was Mau Mau’ (Mau Mau children) in his speech?” questioned Etale.

Another X user shared a photoshop image of the DP Gachagua peeping through the windows at State House as Ruto introduced King Charles to Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
“Gachagua on the window, isn’t it interesting that a DP was left peeping through the window,” Pappi captioned his post.
DP Travels Out of the Country
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife travelled out of the country on October 24 to Belgium to represent President William Ruto at the Global Gateway Forum hosted by European Commission.
Nevertheless, during the week long trip, the couple explored various ways of expanding the global market for local coffee farmers.
Additionally, they met the Minister of State for European and International Affairs of Bavaria, Melanie Huml indicating that their meeting was in line with Bavaria’s Strategy for Africa.

Their discussions focused on cooperation in Renewable Energy, Manufacturing, Tourism, Labour Migration, Sports Development, Education and Exchange Programs.
“It was a very fruitful engagement. We look forward to joint implementation of the action points for sustainable development,” he said.
DP Gachagua and his wife also shared serval photos of themselves going for morning walks and runs within the city of Munich.
