The Former Deputy President and Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Party Leader, Rigathi Gachagua, is to charge Ksh 250,000 for anyone seeking to vie for the Ol Kalou seat.
This is after the Ol Kalou constituency parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of the sitting Member of Parliament, David Njuguna Kiaraho, on March 29, 2026.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has since scheduled a by-election for the constituency, to take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Following his passing, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula formally declared the seat vacant through a Gazette notice on April 20, 2026, in accordance with the Constitution and the Elections Act.
In a public notice issued on April 26 by the party Chairperson, National Elections Board, Wanjiru Kago, the party invited applications from interested candidates seeking its ticket for the Ol Kalou Constituency parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16, 2026.
“The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) National Elections Board hereby invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the party ticket in the upcoming Ol Kalou Constituency by-election scheduled for 16th July, 2026,” the statement read in part.
DCP Sets KSh250,000 Nomination Fee for Ol Kalou MP Aspirants
According to the issued notice, the party has set nomination fees for aspirants seeking the Ol Kalou Constituency Member of Parliament seat.

General applicants will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of KSh 250,000 to participate in the party nomination process.
Youth and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will pay a reduced fee of KSh 125,000.
“Member of Parliament – Ol Kalou Constituency Nomination Fees (Non-Refundable): Ksh. 250,000 – General Applicants Ksh. 125,000 – Youth & Persons with Disabilities (PWDs),” the notice stated.
Further, the DCP party stated that all payments should be made through its official bank account or Paybill number.

How to Apply for DCP Ol Kalou MP Nomination
According to the party elections chair, the application forms are available at the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) headquarters.
“All applications must be submitted on or before Saturday, 2nd May 2026,” she stated in the notice.
Therefore, all interested aspirants are required to complete and submit the official application form.
Additionally, she explained that applicants must attach all required supporting documents when submitting their applications, and proof of payment of the prescribed nomination fee must also be provided.
