Joel Omondi Rabuku, son of the late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, has asserted that President Ruto’s tears were genuine and not fake as alluded by critics.
His assertion came following speculations surrounding President Ruto’s emotional display at the recent Military Honours ceremony, colloquially referred to as ‘crocodile tears’ by some observers.
Rabuku dismissed claims of insincerity, noting that the head of state’s tears were genuine.
He further added that his late father shared close friendship with President William Ruto.
President Ruto Tears are Genuine
According to Rabuku, conversations with his father revealed a deep bond between General Ogolla and President Ruto, as well as Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Cabinet Secretary for Defence Aden Duale.
In his address, he pointed out that these relationships extended beyond mere political alliances, describing them as akin to brothers working together to secure the nation.
While acknowledging skepticism from certain quarters, Rabuku maintained that the tears shed by President Ruto were heartfelt and a genuine emotional connection to his late father.

Joel further stated that he knew the President had borne a great loss as well.
“I saw President Ruto touch his eyes during the Military Honours. People claimed they were crocodile tears, but I know it was genuine because he was good friends with my father,” he said.
General Ogolla’s Burial Details
During a tribute to CDF Francis Ogolla, the family had shared insights into the General’s preparations for his passing.
His son Joel urged mourners to embrace a spirit of celebration rather than sorrow, pointing to his father’s lighthearted nature.
He stressed that the General had long prepared his family for this inevitable moment, encouraging them to find solace in their faith and the knowledge that their father’s beliefs were deeply rooted in Jesus Christ.

Additionally, Canon Hezekiah Oduor had earlier revealed details about their father’s foresight: the General had personally selected the spot for his burial near their family home in Mor village, Siaya County.
His vision for a simple, ritualistic burial, with his body wrapped in sheets, illustrates his desire to ease any undue burden on his loved ones during the grieving process.
