The Kenya Electrical Transmission Company – KETRACO has issued a 30-day notice to landowners affected by the construction of Kenya Tanzania and Isinya Namanga Transmission Lines.
In a statement on Tuesday, December 12, the company stated that those whose land has been used during the ongoing construction should initiate contact for compensation.
Additionally, the notice indicated that the notice followed a previous gazette that had been issued on April 21, 2017, and October 20, 2020.
“Compensation for limited loss of use of land has been ongoing since 2017. KETRACO hereby gives a 30 days’ notice from the date of this advertisement to the project affected persons (PAPS),
“The absentee landowners who have not had any contact with KETRACO despite the publication in the Kenya Gazette notices on 21st April 2017 & 2nd October 2020,” the notice read in part.
Further, the state corporation indicated that it had been organizing meetings in the project areas for identification and compensation of affected individuals.
Notably, KETRACO is currently constructing the 400kV Kenya Tanzania and 132kV Isinya Namanga Transmission Lines which are traversing land parcels in Kajiado County and covering a total distance of 96 Kilometers.

KETRACO Lists Landowners
At the same time, the parastatal listed 24 landowners who were yet to be compensated including the owners of land parcel number DALALEKUTUK/392, DALALEKUTUK/475, DALALEKUTUK/480, DALALEKUTUK/521, DALALEKUTUK/557, DALALEKUTUK/6494 PURKO/91, PURKO/743, DALALEKUTUK/4112.
Others include LORNGOSUA/4918, LORNGOSUA/4922, LORNGOSUA/8116, LORNGOSUA/3257, LORNGOSUA/4936, LORNGOSUA/4056, LORNGOSUA/4057, LORNGOSUA/1748, LORNGOSUA/8116, LORNGOSUA/8115, MAILUA/514.

Additionally, landowners of parcel numbers MAILUA/2425, MAILUA/5107, MAILUA/2293, MAILUA/2294, MAILUA/5276.
How to Get Compensation
The listed individuals were directed to show proof of ownership of the affected parcels to get compensation.
“Those who do not respond to the above will have their compensation set aside for payment when they present their claims for the same,” added the statement.
Additionally, the affected persons were told to call the resettlement action plan team for further guidance.
“All listed landowners, agents, beneficiaries, or estate administrators should immediately contact the resettlement action plan (RAP) management team on the following telephone numbers for further guidance.
“Please contact Francis Koikai on 0723384716 (during official working hours) or send an email to fkoikai@ketraco.co.ke for purposes of identification and land compensation,” the company noted.
