The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has made a call to the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates to ensure they have necessary documents prepared before accessing the portal.
According to a statement from the placement service, making sure all the required documents for the application are ready will ensure they finish the application process faster.
Further, the statement noted that it was also important to have the program codes for preferred courses ready.
“Want to save time on the KUCCPS Portal? Ensure you have these before you start your application,” he stated.
KUCCPS Lists Documents Required for the Application
The required information and documents as listed by the placement service include the KCSE Index Number, KCPE Index number, the Birth Certificate Number and Applicant’s KCSE completion year.
Additionally, KUCCPS stated that the applicants are required to key in an email address, their phone number, their Parent or Guardian’s email address, their Parent or Guardian’s phone number and the name of their county.

Also, during application, the candidates are required to indicate the name of their constituency, the codes of selected program and an application fee of Ksh1500.
However, while KUCCPS encouraged the KCSE candidates to finish their applications before the February 26 deadline, many applicants lamented that they were not able to access the website.
The Kenya times confirmed this noting that the website was out of service because of an ongoing maintenance downtime.
“The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
“Additionally, a 503 Service Unavailable error was encountered while trying to use an Error Document to handle the request,” the site indicated.

Appeal to Candidates with Grades E and D
Earlier on February 17, KUCCPS CEO Mercy Wahome has candidates who scored grades between C and E to apply for courses in TVET institutions.
Expressing concern, she said that the placement service received minimal applications from students with D+ and E grades, asking them to explore the other options.
Additionally, Wahome highlighted that the KUCCPS observed a higher demand for degree programs compared to technical and vocational courses.
“The number of applicants selecting degree programs is higher than those applying for TVET courses so far. KUCCPS encourages those with mean grades between C and E to take advantage of the available TVET opportunities.
“Particularly, applicants with D+ and E are still very low, and we are encouraging them to apply. They should walk into their nearest TVET institution for assistance,” she stated.
