Ol Kalou Constituency is holding a by-election for the Member of Parliament seat following the death of David Kiaraho in March 2026.
The poll is being closely watched as a test of political strength in the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
To check the by-election results, log in to the official IEBC results portal Result Forms once results begin streaming from polling stations and tallying centers.
Kenyans can also log in to the UDA results portal https://results.uda.ke/, where the party has set up a live results tracking system for the mini poll.
The by-election has attracted nine candidates, although the main battle is between UDA’s Samuel Muchina Nyagah and DCP’s Sammy Kamau Ngotho.
A total of 73,480 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots across 144 polling stations in the constituency.
Voting opened at 6 am and closes at 5 pm before counting begins.
Hectic Ol Kalou Campaigns
The Ol Kalou by-election campaign was marked by a series of controversies that drew the attention of the IEBC, political parties and civil society groups.

The electoral commission dispatched investigation teams to probe allegations of voter bribery, election violence, illegal campaigns and the presence of criminal gangs in the constituency, warning that the poll could even be postponed if the environment was deemed unsuitable for a credible election.
Political tensions escalated after DCP accused UDA and State officials of orchestrating a vote-rigging scheme involving voter bribery and pre-marked ballot papers.
UDA dismissed the claims as false and unsupported by evidence.
The campaigns were also dominated by disputes over the rollout of development projects in the constituency.
Opposition leaders questioned the timing of several government-backed initiatives, including road projects, electricity connections, LPG cylinder distribution and the revival of the Nairobi–Nyahururu railway line, arguing that they were intended to influence voters ahead of the poll.
Violence and destruction of campaign materials were also reported. In one incident, a campaign billboard belonging to UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah was pulled down by a crowd in Rurii amid chants of “Wantam”.
Days before voting, Amnesty International Kenya called for investigations into reports of voter inducement, violent clashes between rival supporters and an attack on a DCP campaign truck in Gilgil by armed goons.
On the eve of the election, UDA candidate Samuel Muchina alleged that a vehicle carrying his campaign agents had been set ablaze, while on polling day DCP deputy party leader Cleophas Malala raised concerns over the presence of vehicles without number plates allegedly operating around polling centers.

Security agencies denied claims of voter intimidation and insisted all unmarked vehicles would be impounded.
Who Was David Kiaraho and How Will Results Be Declared
David Njuguna Kiaraho was the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency, having won the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket in the 2022 General Election.
He served until his death on March 29, 2026, while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital, creating the vacancy that led to the current by-election.
During his tenure, Kiaraho was associated with various development initiatives in the constituency and remained a prominent political figure in Nyandarua County.
His passing triggered a contest that has since evolved into one of the country’s most closely watched by-elections.
Once voting ends at 5 pm, ballot counting will begin at individual polling stations in the presence of election officials, party agents and observers.
Results from each station will be entered into official IEBC forms and transmitted to the constituency tallying center.
The Returning Officer will then verify and tally all results before announcing the final outcome.
The winner will be officially declared after the completion of the tallying process, with the IEBC subsequently publishing the results through its official platforms.
