Among the grounds as to why Members of Parliament want Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to be impeached is allegedly amassing wealth from suspected proceeds of corruption and money laundering.
Gachagua has been accused of acquiring an estimated wealth of Ksh 5.2 billion over the last two years which according to the mover of the impeachment motion is compatible with the Ksh12 million per annum.
According to the MP, these are the said properties belonging to DP and his family.
Treetops Hotel is a hotel based in Nyeri that was originally constructed in 1932.
1. Treetops Hotel
The hotel is famously known as the place where Queen Elizabeth stayed when she ascended to the throne in 1952.
According to a publication by the Nation Media Group, a report on the purchase showed that Gachagua and his family acquired the hotels at a whopping price of Sh3.5 billion in 2024.
The hotel was reopened on August 3, 2024, and Gachagua attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest.
However, in an interview with Rift Valley reporters, Gachagua denied allegations that his children purchased the hotel.
Gachagua said his sons didn’t buy the property but instead leased it from Kenya Wild Service (KWS).
2. Outspan Hotel
The Outspan Hotel based in Nyeri, is a hotel that lies on the fringes of the Aberdare National Park.
Outspan Hotel is known for its connection with Baden-Powell, the renowned founder of the Scout movement, as it used to be his home.
Gachagua and his family have also been linked to this hotel.
3. Olive Gardens Hotel
The Olive Gardens Hotel is located on Argwings Kodhek Road in Nairobi’s Kilimani area.
It is a boutique hotel known for its elegant design and prime location.
Gachagua is also linked to this property and has been accused of purchasing it through his sons.
4. Vipingo Beach Resort
It is a luxurious beachfront property located in Tezo, Kilifi County.
The resort is known for its serene environment and personalized service.

Court records presented in 2018 show that the second in command is said to have a stake of 0.01 while his late brother, former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua had a stake of 89.94%.
5. Riara One Apartments
Riara One Residency is a development of 0.85Acre 47000sqm with impressive 17-floor towers located along Riara Road behind the Junction Mall.
