Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi on Tuesday, October 1, vowed not to impeach Gachagua if the impeachment does not revolve around issues related to development.
In a statement, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said if his constituency won’t benefit from Gachagua’s impeachment, then he will opt not to vote. “If there is no allocation for my road network in Saboti constituency, then this Gachagua impeachment will be none of my business,” Amisi vowed.
Additionally, Amisi said that even though he has appended his signature to the impeachment motion that does not guarantee he will vote during the time of voting.
“Signing is not equal to voting. I can’t help UDA clean their house, and they can’t clean the roads for my constituents,” Amisi stated.
Reason why Amisi is reluctant to impeach Gachagua
At the same time, the ODM legislator decried foul play in the distribution of resources channeled to development projects across the country.
He alleged that regions enjoying the support of the Kenya Kwanza government receive the lion’s share of allocated resources compared to other regions.

“One constituency in Elgeyo Marakwet has Ksh17 billion for road maintenance, another in Nyeri and Muranga has Ksh11 billion Ksh16 billion respectively, etc, and the entire Western region with 39 constituencies, including Bungoma where the speaker comes from, has a total of Khs600m only; my constituency Saboti has suffered since time immemorial,” the legislator lamented.
As such Hamisi reconsiders voting for the impeachment against the Deputy President.
Gachagua’s impeachment motion
“We cannot just be taxpayers and voting machines with nothing to our people. Road allocation in the country must measure the principle of equity and equality just like NGCDF, “Amisi reiterated.
Gachagua’s impeachment motion debate is set to be discussed at the National Assembly on October 1 in the afternoon.
The impeachment motion against the second in command shall be moved by Kibwezi West MP Mutuse Mwengi.

Videos seen by The Kenya Times showed officers stationed along these routes screening and interrogating individuals before allowing them to pass, creating an air of heightened vigilance.
Other photos showed increased security extending beyond Parliament, with officers visibly positioned at key strategic points throughout the city.
