In Kakamega, anti-riot police officers were able to restore calm following yesterday’s protest that halted normal activities, including transport and commerce.
Police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the protesters who had earlier blocked the busy Kakamega – Kisumu highway.
Close to 50 anti-government protestants were arrested in the operation.
However, despite the presence of the police officers, several groups of protestors are still threatening to return to the protest, many of them complaining about the high cost of living in Kenya today.
