Artist and revolutionary activist Kasmuel McOure on October 8 lashed out at Kenyans who have labelled him a “sellout.”
In a video he shared on his social media account on X, Kasmuel defended his decision of meeting political leaders perceived to be “pro government leaders.”
“This Gen Z movement has always claimed to be leaderless, but you will write negative comments on my post and call me a traitor and a sellout while I thought I was not your leader. I thought I was nothing,” Kasmuel claimed.
Additionally, the vocal activist questioned how he could be considered a sellout when he has risked his life since the height of the ‘Gen Z’ protests, during which he claimed the government tried to eliminate him.

“It is so bad that right now you don’t even remember what I was fighting for during ‘nane nane protests,” Kasmuel explained.
“For you, it was funny, and now you want to tell me ‘kufa dereva, kufa makanga’ as if I hadn’t already given my body to the streets.

The government tried to take my life, and you made memes about it. That’s part of the reason why I can say the movement has never claimed, nor can it purport, to call me a sellout,” the vocal activist added.
Kasmuel defended his decision of his recent meetings with various political leaders arguing that he has been having political ambitions and he wanted to seek political advice from the political elite on how to get elected.
McOure defends decision of meeting politicians
“I have always said that I have wanted to take political power in the upcoming 2027 general elections, and I cannot take it from people who have never had political power,” McOure defended himself.
The revolutionary activist further claimed that there have been several ‘Gen Z leaders’ whom he did not want to mention that held meetings with politicians secretly at the same time as the lied to the Gen Z not to interact with political leaders.

He added that with time those leaders are going to be exposed.
Kasmuel’s statement came after some of his photos went viral after meeting several politicians including recently Azimio leader Raila Odinga, Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai and South Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP) Silvanus Osoro.
Kasmuel said he had no apology to issue of interacting with those leaders.
