Popular activist Kasmuel McOure faced backlash from a section of Kenyans after a photo of him with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chief whip Silvanus Osoro went viral on Wednesday, September 18.
Kasmuel bumped into the legislator at a members’ club in Nairobi where he had gone to meet with several youths to educate them about civic education.
In the photo, Kasmuel is seen having conversation with the South Mugirango member of parliament (MP) while laughing.
Kenyans Respond to Kasmuel’s Photo
Bernard Kavuli on X said, “Look at your laughter. Are they even genuine? Is this you Kasmuel? When was this? What exactly did you discuss? Are you dancing on the graves of comrades who lost their lives?
Another X user by the name Katiwa said activism is a business! Assume nothing, believe no one, confirm everything!
Yoko Kibe quoted the late Reggae musician Lucky Dube’s quote which says, “The dog and the cat have forgiven each other” Kasmuel MccOure took it seriously.

Kasmuel defends his actions
However, Kasmuel defended his actions saying that he bumped into the legislator while on his way to a meeting and took that opportunity to raise concerns about the Kenya Kwanza government’s leadership.
“I go to that members’ club often and meet plenty of Kenyans there. The Majority Whip of Parliament is one of the many members,” he explained.
He added, “It was my first time meeting him, and I took the opportunity to say to his face what I’ve always said online: Their government has failed us in fundamental ways. Extrajudicial killings, false promises on service delivery, and a blatant disregard for the rule of law.”
The vocal activist further explained that his mandate is not only to agitate for good governance in the streets but also tell the truth to political leaders when he meets them in person.

“My online critics have often tried to relegate me to protests alone. However, you can not only dismiss me to die in the streets, as if my leadership was destined to end there.
If I get the chance to speak truth to power, I’ll do it every time,” McOure’s statement read
At the same time, the popular activist has said he would continue with his door-to-door campaigns while also taking civic education to marketplaces and bus stages.
