It has been a rough couple of days for singer-turned-activist Kasmuel McOure, after losing thousands of his online followers.
A section of Kenyans have turned their backs on Kasmuel following his speech at the Bomas of Kenya on October 4, 2024.
According to dominant sentiments online, Kenyans expected him to address the recent attack on activist Morara Kebaso during the public participation forum for the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Additionally, Kasmuel’s failure to call for the impeachment of President William Ruto, a stance he had taken earlier, has fueled accusations that he is aligning himself with the government.
By Sunday, October 6, Kasmuel’s following on X had decreased from 162.7 thousand to 142.2 thousand.

At the same time, many are questioning whether his activism is still rooted in genuine concern for the people.
Some have indicated that the activist is in bed with the government while masquerading as a supporter of the people’s agenda.
“Kasmuel went on that stage and spoke the language of our oppressors. He spoke just like them. He sounded just like any other Kenyan MP. Is this the same dude we went to the streets with? Oh, how quickly people change!” Stephen Mutuku stated.
“Kasmuel is a sell-out and you now realize why he and the likes of Tarus and so many yappers here have been fighting Morara. Morara is the only young person who has not been bought and is staying true,” Morara’s lawyer Pareno Solonka said.
On the other hand, Lawyer Miguna Miguna stated that he had been trying to mentor Morara and Kasmuel but failed because they were carried away by temptation from the government.

“I advised them to stop jostling about 2027, Gen Z leadership, and NIS crumbs. But it’s been difficult because of the usual youth exuberance, greed, tendency to rush, gullibility, integrity issues, and temptations from the crooks at the NIS and State House Kenya,” he noted.

Response to Kenyans Online
However, Kasmuel has refuted the claims asking Kenyans to provide proof that he has received handouts from the government.
Further, he has maintained that he will keep fighting for Kenya even if it costs him popularity.
“If I ever sell my integrity, I’ll be the first to make it known. If you have proof of the little, I’ve received, table it. I don’t need anyone’s approval to do what’s right for our country.
“If this will cost me popularity, so be it. The Internet has never liked me anyway. If it will cost me work, so be it. Our youth are languishing in unemployment. If it will cost me my life, I’ve said it time without number, so be it.”
