Nairobi is among the counties expected to experience intermittent cool, cloudy conditions between August 18 and 24, according to the Kenya Met weekly weather forecast.
Most parts of the country are expected to remain generally dry during the period. However, rainfall is forecast in parts of Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Lamu, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri.
“However, some counties including Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Kisii, Lamu, Kericho, Nyandarua and Nyeri may receive rainfall,” Kenya Met predicted.
Further, the Kenya Met weekly outlook showed that morning showers may occur in parts of Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River and Lamu, while isolated morning rains are possible in parts of Marsabit, Garissa, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Homa Bay, Busia, Bomet, Migori, Vihiga, Kakamega, Nairobi, Baringo, Embu and Tharaka-Nithi.
The forecast indicates that afternoon showers and thunderstorms may develop in parts of western, Rift Valley and coastal Kenya, including Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Busia, Kakamega, Vihiga, Homa Bay, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Siaya and West Pokot.
Afternoon showers may also occur in parts of Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Kiambu, Lamu, Kwale, Garissa, Kajiado, Kilifi, Taita Taveta and Makueni.
Night showers are expected in parts of Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Bungoma, Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Migori, and Homa Bay.

The forecast also indicates partly cloudy conditions at night across several areas, including parts of Baringo, Bomet, Busia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Embu, Garissa, Isiolo, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kilifi and Kisii.
Several Counties Face Cold Nights and Hot Days, Kenya Met Forecasts
According to Kenya Met, nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to fall below 10°C in some parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado and Trans Nzoia.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in much of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Turkana, eastern Kitui, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties.
Cool, cloudy conditions are also expected intermittently in parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, and Marsabit.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in some parts of Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado and Marsabit counties,” the weatherman said.

Kenya Weather Forecast for August–October 2026
In an earlier released forecast, the Kenya Meteorological Department said 20 counties will record below-average rainfall between August and October 2026, with much of August and September expected to remain dry and scattered rainfall forecast in October.
Parts of the Coast, including Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Lamu and Tana River, are expected to receive above-average rainfall, mainly in October, alongside some areas of Garissa, Mandera, Wajir and Marsabit.
Central Kenya, including Nairobi, Kiambu, Nyeri, Meru, Embu and Murang’a, is expected to experience occasional cool, cloudy conditions and light rainfall in August and early September. The short rains are forecast to begin in October.
Temperatures are expected to remain above average across the country throughout the August–September–October 2026 period.
