Several regions within the country are set to experience rainfall starting Sunday, March 16, 2025, with several areas expected to receive heavy downpours, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
In the latest weather forecast, the weatherman has warned that there will be increased rainfall activity in the Central Highlands, including Nairobi.
Other areas expected to receive heavy rainfall include Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and parts of the South-Eastern Lowlands.
Additionally, the weatherman has predicted that some areas along the Coast, North-Eastern, and North-Western Kenya may also receive showers.
The weatherman has warned that some regions could experience isolated storms and heavy rainfall events, urging residents to stay alert for potential disruptions such as flooding, reduced visibility, and slippery roads.
“This rainfall is likely to mark the onset of the rainy season in several parts of the country, although subsequent updates will be issued,” indicated the weatherman.

Areas That Will Receive Heavy Rainfall and Storm
Apart from Nairobi, other regions expected to receive significant rainfall include Western Kenya counties, including Kakamega, Bungoma, Vihiga, and Busia.
Rift Valley counties, including Eldoret, Nakuru, Kericho, Narok and Lake Victoria Basin counties like Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Siaya should also brace for heavy rainfall.
Similarly, areas within the Central Highlands region like Kiambu, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a and the South-Eastern Lowlands like Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui will experience heavy rainfall.
Also, the coastal regions such as Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River and the North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya counties like Garissa, Mandera, Turkana, and Marsabit will receive heavy rainfall.
At the same time, the Met Department warned that isolated storms. The forecast comes after the weatherman announced a pause on rainfall midweek, noting that showers were expected to resume towards the weekend.

Kenya Met on Expected Temperatures
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Kenya Meteorological Department has cautioned that temperatures will vary significantly, with minimum temperatures dropping to 8°C and maximum daytime temperatures reaching up to 35°C.
Along the coastal counties, daytime temperatures are forecasted to rise to 34°C, while night-time temperatures could drop to 22°C.
In the South-Eastern Lowlands, daytime temperatures are expected to reach 34°C, while nighttime lows may fall to 13°C.
In Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana and Samburu counties, temperatures at night will rise to a maximum of 39°C and a minimum of 14°C.
