Kenya Power Puts on Sale Vehicles and Motorcycles; How to Bid

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Plc (KPLC) has announced a public auction of motor vehicles, motorcycles, plant equipment, assorted tyre casings, used batteries, assorted vehicle spare parts, and used oil at their Nairobi/Ruaraka grounds.

Kenya Power will conduct the auction in conjunction with Galaxy Auctioneers on the 26th and 27th of June 2025, at the company’s transport depot Ruaraka Yard, near KCA University off Thika Road, starting at 10:00 am.

All interested bidders are requested to view and verify the details and conditions of the items themselves, as they are not warranted by Kenya Power or the auctioneer.

The items will be sold on an “as is, where is” basis.

Bidders can obtain a detailed catalogue from Galaxy Auctioneers at Pangani Auction Centre, along Muranga Road, opposite Guru Nanak Hospital, Nairobi, starting from the date of advertisement, for a non-refundable fee of Ksh500.

Interested bidders are required to make a refundable deposit of Ksh100,000.00 for up to three motor vehicles, Ksh10,000.00 for up to three motorcycles and any assorted items, and Ksh110,000.00 for up to three motor vehicles and three motorcycles.

The deposit must be paid to Kenya Power prior to the auction, as no deposits will be accepted on the auction day.

“No bidding without a bidding number. The said deposits shall be limited to the purchase of the first three motor vehicles/plant and motorcycles respectively,” Kenya Power said.

Any bidder wishing to bid for more vehicles, plant, or motorcycles shall be required to pay the necessary deposits, also limited to three motor vehicles, three motorcycles, and any other assorted items.

Successful Bidders

The winning and declared successful bidder shall deposit 25% of the purchase value at the fall of the hammer, at the Kenya Power banking halls, and clear the balance within seven days from the date of the auction.

Failure to complete payments will result in the deposit being forfeited, and the subject item shall be made available to the second highest bidder or shall be reoffered in the next sale.

“All payments to Kenya Power shall be in the form of bankers’ cheques and/or cash, made at the Kenya Power banking halls. Bidders shall be issued with fiscal receipts,” Kenya Power added.

Additionally, the winning bidders shall be required to collect the sold items within fourteen days from the date of the auction; failure to which shall attract storage charges of Ksh300.00 per day.

Transfer of Ownership from Kenya Power

The sale shall be subject to the reserved market price.

Transfer of ownership of items sold shall be processed within a period of one month from the date of the auction.

There shall be no cash transactions at the auction venue.
