Protestors have reportedly stormed Mombasa Central Police Station in protest of those arrested by police officers while demonstrating in the streets.

In a video shared online, several protestors are seen walking into the police station while chanting as police officers at the station watch helplessly.

According to the protestors, their comrades were arrested while participating in the #EndAbductionsKE demonstrations in Mombasa.

According to activists and journalist Hanifa Farsafi, 11 individuals were arrested in the county.

They include Hussein Khalid, Shipeta, Hassan Masudi, Kishindo, Walid Sketty, Tina Khan, Kazungu, Hildah Rawago, Lilian, Lydia, and Phoebe.

Arrests Made by Nairobi Police

Meanwhile, in Nairobi CBD, police officers cornered, dragged and arrested Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah and at least 10 other protesters, and booked them at Central Police Station.

Omtatah and the group of protestors chained themselves together at Aga Khan Walk in Nairobi CBD, despite police officers launching several teargas canisters at them in an attempt to disperse the group.

Armed with Kenyan flags and the constitution, the group demanded the release of Kenyans who have fallen victim to ongoing state abductions, naming them one at a time and calling for peace.

The #EndAbductionsKE march officially kicked off in Nairobi CBD, with protesters carrying placards featuring popular silhouettes created by missing visual artist Kibet Bull, while chanting and singing in solidarity for an end to enforced disappearances.

Several key roads leading into the CBD were barricaded, and officers were seen frisking Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) to identify protestors who were being transported into the city.

In Embu, Kitengela and Nakuru, police engaged protesters in running battles, lobbing tear gas canisters to disperse the crowd and setting up roadblocks at the town’s entrance.
