Kenyans on social media have criticized Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi for allegedly posting a fake Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) certificate.
Amisi shared a photo of his KCPE certificate on his official X account showing that he sat for the exams in 2000 and scored 590 marks out of the total 700.
“My KCPE record has never been broken 24 years down the line,” wrote Amisi.
In the certificate, the MP scored As in Kiswahili (83), Mathematics (89), Science and Agriculture (90), Arts, Craft & Music (93) and Home Science and Business Education (80).
He also scored A-(minus) in English Language (76) and Geography History & Civics and Religious Education (79).
The certificate also bears the name and signature of Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) CEO Dr. David Njegere.
Kenyans Attack Caleb Amisi
However, Kenyans were quick to point out mistakes in Amisi’s KCPE certificate.
To begin with, an X user named Mulembe Nation Facts pointed out that Njegere wasn’t KNEC’S CEO in the year 2000.
The user went ahead to state that KCPE certificates only bear the signatures of the KNEC officials and not their names.
“This is fake, in 2000 Njegere wasn’t KNEC CEO and secondly they only indicate the signature not the names,” replied Mulembe Nation Facts.
Another user replied with a screenshot of news update showing Njegere’s appointment date as KNEC CEO.

The news story done on July 9, 2021, indicate that Njegere was appointed as KNEC’S CEO effective July 1 the same year.
X user Nyandarua’s Finest also compared Amisi’s 590 marks to the 482 out of 500 marks scored by Calvin Nyakundi in the 2003 KCPE.
He explained that Nyakundi’s marks were slightly higher than that posted by Amisi.
“Calvin Nyakundi of Busara Academy scored 482 marks out 500 in 2003 which is greater than 590 out of 700. Also, Njegere became the KNEC CEO on July 1,2021. Maybe there is something you know that we don’t know,” replied the user.
Similarly, Ignatius Tito Mulwa pointed out that KCPE certificates do not have marks scored in every subject.
Maxwel Otieno’s Certificate
A user named Maxwel Otieno who also sat for KCPE in 2000 posted his certificate.
In a quick comparison between the two certificates, the font size and style look completely different.
Amisi’s certificate also has marks for every subject while that of Maxwel has grades only.
The MP’s certificate has the total marks attained while that of Maxwel did not.
Also, Maxwel’s certificate had the signature of KNEC’s secretary and chairman while that of the MP had the name and signature of KNEC’S CEO.
Besides, the positioning of the student’s name, index number and name of the school is contained in the opening paragraph for Amisi’s certificate.

However, in Maxwel’s the name, index and name of the school are positioned below the opening graph.
“The KNEC Certifies that, Amisi Caleb sat for KCPE under the index number…in the year 2000 at…and attained the following results,” reads the opening in the certificate posted by Amisi.
This is compared to “This is to certify that the candidate named below sat for the Examination for KCPE and reached the Grades shown in the subjects named” in Maxwels certificate.
The examination year is positioned below the subjects and grades in Maxwel’s certificate.
“Why is his certificate with marks, could it be from river road?” posed another user on X.
O.M.B classics said Maxwels’ certificate is original since he has openly disclosed the index number for confirmation as opposed to Amisi whose index number was not displayed.
