Kiprono Kittony, the former National Chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), was born in 1965 in Kericho County.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Global Executive MBA from the United States International University (USIU).
Kittony is the immediate former Chairman of the Media Owners Association (MOA), a powerful lobby group representing Kenyan media owners.
Currently, Kittony serves as the Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
He is married and has four children.
Kiprono Kittony’s Educational Background
In 1988, Kittony earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi. He later obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the same institution in 2005, followed by a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law in the same year.
In 2011, he completed the Owner Management Programme (OMP) at Strathmore University, and in 2012, he earned a Global Executive MBA from the United States International University (USIU).

Career Background
Kiprono Kittony began his career as a farmer, working alongside his three siblings on his father’s farm, before rising to become a serial entrepreneur and business leader.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), the leading securities exchange in East and Central Africa. Kittony was appointed Chairman of the NSE Board on July 13, 2020, having earlier joined the board as a director on May 30, 2018.
Before his appointment to the NSE, he served as the National President of KNCCI, Kenya’s premier business membership organization. In 2000, Kittony co-founded the Radio Africa Group, now one of Kenya’s fastest-growing media companies, operating several radio stations, digital platforms, and a newspaper.
He also serves as the Chairman of AAR Insurance Limited and Mtech Limited. Additionally, Kittony sits on the advisory council of the International Fund for Health in Africa (IFHA), an Amsterdam-based private equity fund, and is one of two African representatives on the Global Council of the World Chambers Federation.

Kiprono Kittony is married to Rosemary Kittony, and together they have children, including:
- Chanelle Jepkorir Kittony, the firstborn daughter, serves as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure in Trans Nzoia County. In November 2025, she married Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang in a high-profile wedding attended by President William Ruto.
- Catherine Kittony, who serves as the Managing Director of Sirwo Coffee, a family-linked business with a bistro at Lavington Mall.
- Chantal Kittony, who has been noted to attend family events, including business anniversaries.
Achievements of Kittony
Kiprono Kittony co-founded Radio Africa Group in 2000, which owns major media brands such as Kiss FM, Classic 105, and The Star newspaper.

He oversaw the expansion of the Criminal Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) and the creation of specialized units, including the Sting Squad Headquarters (SSH).
Since his appointment as NSE Chairman in 2020, he has steered the exchange through significant strategic growth, strengthening Kenya’s capital markets.
As National Chairman of KNCCI, Kittony is credited with saving the institution from near collapse and restoring its global influence.
In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) in 2019.
In 2018, he was also named Star Person of the Year for his contributions to justice and law enforcement.
